Passion for Progress

Kaizen.

The japanese term for constant, never-ending improvement of self.

This is my motto, my drive and my focus. Five years ago, I realized that I was better than the life I had been living. I had been married 11 years to an abuser. I worked hard at jobs that I hated, and left my children every day at day care centers instead of spending my hours with them. Loving them. Learning with them. Five years ago, I changed inside and out. I shed religious views that kept me silent, afraid and meek. I left my husband and began a new life of promise.

I flew a plane.

I quit my job.

I homeschooled my kids.

I remarried a man who loves me and encourages me in whatever endeavor that I choose to persue.

I fell in love with my mom, again.

I blogged.

I had two more amazing children.

I'm still changing, still learning, still working to be a better person and to keep in constant touch with my higher self. That part of me that is divine, that is filled with agape love. I try to bless people (and not just when they sneeze), and to let them know that they are appreciated. I focus on gratitude daily...as a reminder that right here, and right now is where I want to be.

Ten-Bills has a beautiful shirt with artwork created by Kenneth Quemuel called the Evolution of Flight. This shirt sums up my feelings about my past, my present and even my future. It represents man in his worst state...his most basest form, moving up to stand proud and strong...believing in himself, and finally to spread his wings preparing to take flight - to THE beyond.

Kaizen.

You'll have a chance to win some of the Ten-Bills shirts at Ben Sparks website. The shirts are gorgeous, beautiful art creations that are almost too lovely to be worn. At the very least, friends...you should go take a look at some of the images, and see what memories and passions they awaken in YOU.

Blessed Be.
Janeen

A story of Dewalt joy and gladness, by Janeen

Sunday, January 04, 2009 Edit This 1 Comment »
Once upon a time, Janeen visited the website One Project Closer, thanks to a link from her mom's blog. While there, she discovered all kinds of testosterone filled construction projects with lots of ideas for helping and products that would make all her DIY Network watching dreams come true.

When Janeen saw the Dewalt Track Saw, she immediately had visions of cabinetry, drywall and wood flooring passing in front of her eyes...she saw her husband, father and son sweating laboriously with hand saws ad nauseum...but then being relieved and lifted up as if upon angels backs as they used thier new Dewalt Track Saw. She saw cherubs gently packing a bloggy giveaway box with her name upon it...sending it in her general direction thanks to some uniformed delivery agent, and the box flying toward her with godspeed.

Janeen's eyes welled with tears when she saw the faceless delivery man and his truck approach her country drive...and feet as if filled with lead pulled her in agonizing slowness toward his outstretched hands holding the glowing box that held the Saw that would change their lives forever. Oh yes...the SAW OF DESTINY. Millions the world over would forever be changed when they heard the glowing review that Janeen wrote upon her blogs and promoted on twitter and through her mailing lists.

And Janeen and her family lived happily ever after once her parents moved out and thier home was finally finished. She even had dinner at thier house occasionally...just for a change of pace.

The End

Are you going to Blogher? I might be...if I win THIS!

Sunday, January 04, 2009 Edit This 0 Comments »
The Queen of Spain is giving away one full registration to the 2009 BlogHer Conference in Chicago. To enter, she's asking some of us lovely lady bloggers to post about why we might want to go. For me, it would definately be to LEARN. I have so much to learn about what my contribution to the blogosphere could be, and has been. My other blog, Your Impact Matters was really doing well, and on a great uphill swing when I stopped posting suddenly. My husband and I decided to take our 7th grade daughter out of school and homeschool her. It has been a wild ride full of unexpected challenges, most of which had me ended up without much free time, so I didn't have the energy to blog for awhile.

Now that the new year has started and we're in the full swing of homeschooling with some great plans and great scheduling, I'm ready to hunker back down and give my blogs more time again. I want my contribution to be uplifting, informative and of course...profitable. For both blogher (ads) and myself! I'm certain that I can learn a wealth of information from the other amazing women that will attend the blogher conference, especially those professional bloggers! I would never be able to afford to do something like this...so the opportunity to win a giveaway like this couldn't be passed up!

My daughter is interested in starting her own blog, and we'll be working on that in the next few weeks together. In addition, I've helped my mom start her own blog, Baba's Farm Life and it's growning and taking off so well! I would feel so blessed to bring home information from this conference that could help all three of us to write better, post without fear and be a contribution to the world through our blogs.

In the next year, one of my goals is to be a strong female leader to my three daughters. I want to do so many things with my blogs, and really show them that a homemaking, homeschooling mom can bake bread, clean the house, change diapers and have her own business too! I want to write a book...and I'm looking forward to the continued support of the readers of Your Impact Matters and my friends and family as well. My book is going to be for all mothers the world over that have to make difficult decisions in the best interest of their children.

Another goal for 2009 is to continue to help my mother with her blog and stone house project. Working together, we are creating some wonderful blogs that have a great contributing readership.

I think it's going to be a great year!

Company Contacts

Sunday, January 04, 2009 Edit This 0 Comments »
I try to contact about three companies a week. These are companies who's products my family uses regularly, and I'd like to get coupons for.

Today I contacted:

Johnsonville
We tried their breakfast sausage this week because I had some coupons that made them cheaper than generic. They were really good...and I'd like to eat more, but I need more coupons! I joined their mailing list and emailed them as well through their "contact" page to give a positive review of their product and to request samples, coupons and new products for review.

Breyers Ice cream
My husband bought me some of the Double Churn Vanilla Ice Cream when I kidnapped and held his ninja for ransom. You may read about that whole experience on my other blog, Your Impact Matters. I love vanilla bean ice cream, and Breyers brand was delicious! So I joined their mailing list, and like with Johnsonville, I requested samples, coupons and offered to review new products.

Gerber
Although I'm nursing my littlest and we prefer to feed our children homemade fresh baby food that is NOT processed, I do enjoy having baby food on hand for emergencies and for when we travel. I contacted Gerber for this reason, and signed up as with the above companies. Gerber has some printable coupons available on their website, so I availed myself of those immediately while I wait for a response from my email contact and for their first newsletter to arrive.

I read recently online that most companies keep your information for about three months. Whenever I contact a company like the three above, I give myself a notification event four months in the future on my Outlook to notify me to contact them again. If I'm already signed up for their newsletter, then I don't do that again...I just send them an email through their contact form, call or write the company and request free samples, coupons and ask if they have a new product review group that my family may join. I always make sure to let them know how much I love their products, and which products are our favorite!

Have you contacted companies recently for this purpose? I'd love to hear about it...let me know in the comments below! I'd also love to hear if you got something really nifty in the mail after conacting a company for either a comment or complaint! Please share!

This is Janeen from Your Impact Matters. I've decided that with all the blog giveaways that I enter that I wanted to create another blog just to link to those giveaways and give me better chances of winning without cluttering my main blog with all those giveaway links.

Then, I realized that with all my couponing, all the free things that I get in the mail and at the store, and my ever constant goal of being more prepared for any situation and having plenty of food stockpiled for my family that those thoughts and posts would have a nice home here on this new blog!

So, if you are also a frugal mom, looking for more advice, great online giveaways, ways to get lots of free things (including groceries) then look no further! This blog is one of my 2009 new years resolutions...so here we go!
